While their desire to reach postmoderns is uniform, the methods developed by churches are anything but.

Tapping into a culture that is increasingly tied to the Internet and warp-speed technological advances, Riverside's Harvest Christian Fellowship launched its Day 7 service earlier this year. The interactive service, which features a live Web cast, marries the latest in contemporary Christian music with a high-tech backdrop of multimedia, graphics, video and animation. Although people of all ages attend, most are young adults.

"It's important to keep a pulse on the culture," said John Carley, director of Harvest Online, the church department that handles the Internet ministry. "MTV is constantly changing their programming. We want to make sure as a church that we stay on that same pulse except, with us, we provide something to youth that changes their lives."
